Are you facing firefox browser's constantly lagging and not responding problem? After upgrading to newer version 5.0, i was facing that problem very often. When i try to open new tab, it automatically stops responding and does nothing for more than minute. I thought it's because of hyper threading, i tried to lower that and I have also tried clearing my cache and cookies. The problem was not in my computer, it was only on firefox browser. So i did know there is something wrong in firefox. Then i downgraded it to older version 3.6  but that problem was still there. 

Actually the problem was not in newest version, there were some firefox extensions making firefox hangs. I tried to remove all plugins one by one then checked it. Finally i found that extensions, that was the ant video downloader causing the problem. Actually that was installed in firefox to download videos from facebook, youtube and other sites. Finally that solved my problem. But there are also other plugins like Java, Adobe Reader, or Flas, which also make firefox hangs.

Mozilla on Tuesday made its latest Web browser available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux computers. Firefox 4 features a redesigned UI, a new panoramic tab manager, improved security and privacy controls, integrated Firefox Sync services, tab grouping, an optimized JavaScript engine designed to improve Web app performance, GPU-accelerated page rendering and plenty more. Mozilla's new Firefox 3.6 is about 15% faster than its predecessor, Firefox 3.5, but still is a slowpoke compared to the current speed demons, Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome, benchmark tests show.

According to tests run by Computerworld, Firefox 3.6, which Mozilla launched on Thursday, is the third fastest of five Windows browsers tested. Firefox renders JavaScript three times faster than Opera 10 and more than four times faster than Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 (IE8). It's also 14.5% faster than Firefox 3.5, the Mozilla browser that debuted in June 2009, a slightly larger speed increase than Mozilla has claimed.

But even with the JavaScript speed boost, Firefox 3.6 can't match Safari or Chrome. Safari is twice as fast -- and Chrome 4.0 nearly twice as fast -- as Firefox.
