Joomla! is a content management system which is gaining popularity and massive user base at a very fast pace. The reason being its ease-of-use and extensibility of the features. On the top of it, it is an open source solution which is freely available to all. It allows developers to build inventory control systems, data reporting tools, application bridges, integrated eCommerce applications, reservation tools, communication systems and other applications very easily.
What about Joomla 1.6?
Joomla 1.6 is the next generation of Joomla!. The principal changes introduced in Joomla 1.6 are:-
- New Access Control System - Allows site administrators control over who can view and manage content.
- Unlimited Depth Organizational Model - Gives site administrators and content creators user-defined category levels that allow for the creation of a category tree with as many or as few levels for organizing articles and other content as needed.
- One-Click Extension Updates - Allows users to keep sites secure and controlled by simplifying the process of updating extensions.
- Semantic XHTML Layouts - Provides a better baseline for content presentation.
What’s new in Joomla 1.6 Beta 13 this time?
The Joomla! project team is proud to announce the immediate availability of Joomla 1.6 Beta 13. Since it is a beta version, so it is not meant to be used for production sites but for evaluation purpose only. Joomla 1.6 Beta 12 was released on October 18. Since then, 71 issues have been fixed in the tracker. This is truly amazing and could possible due to hard work done by the Joomla! Bug Squad team. It is quite interesting and appreciating to note that large number of Joomla website developers and users have joined the bug squad to improve Joomla!
