Frustrated web developer decides to teach Joomla for free

BuildAJoomlaWebsite.com has revised its online Joomla video training course and has released it for free.

Build a Joomla Website owner Richard Pearce said that it was an easy decision to release the training for free. “When I discovered Joomla, I found it difficult to understand, complicated to use and the documentation was poor. I became so frustrated trying to use it that I threw it away three times before knuckling down to work it out once and for all,” said Pearce, a web developer of 15 years.

“Once I mastered Joomla, I decided to produce a training course that teaches beginners the essentials of Joomla in around an hour, instead of weeks. Hundreds of people paid for and enjoyed the training. Many customers told me that if it wasn’t for my course, they too would have given up using Joomla. So when it came time to revise the course, I did not want anyone to go through the same miserable experience I had and so I decided to release it for free.”

A Brief History of the Internet [Video Documentary]

Posted by admin in Internet

The foundations of the Internet were formed when packet-switching networks came into operation in the 1960s. Transmitted data is broken up into small packets  of data, sent to its destination, and reassembled at the other side. This means that a single signal can be routed to multiple users, and an interrupted packet may be re-sent without loss of transmission. Packets can be compressed for speed and encrypted for security.

Computers at the time were massive, primitive structures. The only type of network in operation before was made up of terminals that logged into mainframes. This is similar to the present-day client/server relationship we have with the modern Internet, except the computers are usually comparable in terms of power, and so the Internet is known as a peer-to-peer system.

6 Steps to create Your Own Website: For Beginners

Posted by admin in web designing

This page explains everything that is needed for anyone wanting to create their own web page.  It is intended for the beginner and layperson, taking you step by step through the whole process from the very beginning I hope this guide is helpful.

1. Get Your Domain Name

The first thing you need to do before anything else is to get yourself a domain name. A domain name is the name you want to give to your website. For example, the domain name of the website you're reading is "nirmal.com.np". To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. But to register a domain like mine nirmal.com.np, you don’t need to pay. You can register from Mercantile Communications Pvt. Ltd.  You  just need is your photocopy of Citizenship and letter head. But remember a name does not get you a website or anything like that. It's just a name. It's sort of like registering a business name in the brick-and-mortar world; having that business name does not mean that you also have the shop premises to go with the name.

There are many webmasters that need assistance with their Joomla site. Most problems webmasters have to deal with will be avoided by following these 7 simple guidelines for using a Joomla site:

1. Article Manager
The "pages" on your site are referred to as articles, the main content for each page. One of the first things you always want to do when creating a new page on your Joomla website is create a new article. Content Management Systems work by controlling how your site handles information, so it is natural that this should be your first step.

2. Menu Manager
When you work with menu items, you must remember that these are just links that tell your site which article it is pointing to. Menu items help you assign modules to specific pages, rather than having to show them on every page or none at all.
